It’s a Party! with Groove Collective
Thursday September 19 from 7:40-8:20pm at Lee Lifeson Art Park
Led by the Groove Collective, this class is an opportunity to learn famous party grooves and social dances! Beginners welcome!
Intercultural Workshop
Saturday September 21 from 2:30-3:30pm at Lee Lifeson Art Park
Our CGDF 2024 Intercultural Workshop offers participants an experience of working with similar concepts from different outlooks and dance styles. It will focus on how the concept of energy, which is vital to dance, is explored in Hip Hop and Mohiniyattam.
Sarah Ching U will teach basic Hip Hop grooves and explore how effort/energy can enhance the storytelling qualities of dance.
Harikishan S Nair will guide participants through the fundamentals of Mohiniyattam and explore the idea of energizing the gaze in dance.
This workshop will be followed by an Artist Talk, facilitated by Tanveer Alam.
Flamenco Foundations led by Carmen Romero
Saturday September 21 from 5:15-6:00pm at Lee Lifeson Art Park
Flamenco Foundations is a class that teaches the rudimentary skills for building your dance and musical training in Flamenco. All ages and levels are welcome, for this open-to-all exploratory dance workshop!
EVENT DETAILS
LOCATION: This event will take place at Lee Lifeson Art Park, just steps from North York Centre subway station. Exit towards Empress Walk for a short-cut! A public washroom is available onsite for audience members.
WHAT TO BRING: Please wear comfortable clothing that you feel good moving in. Other than that, just bring your enthusiasm and an open mind :)

ACCESSIBILITY: Workshop facilitators can provide modifications for anyone who would like to participate with limited mobility.
