Community Workshop
WITH BOYS’ CLUB TAP DANCE COLLECTIVE
Presented by Assembly Hall in partnership with TOES FOR DANCE, with support from ĀNANDAṀ.
Saturday August 23, 11:30am-12:30pm at Assembly Hall
Laura Donaldson, Veronica Simpson, and Elise McGrenera from Boys' Club Tap Dance Collective will lead a fun, open-level rhythm workshop, focusing on bringing a community together through the power of rhythm! Participants will learn to feel and express rhythm through the body and down to the feet through listening, movement, body percussion, and traditional tap dance steps (without tap shoes).
This workshop is designed for all ages and skill levels, with no previous dance experience or tap shoes necessary. Modifications will be provided in accordance to personal needs. Come as you are, bring your family and friends and learn something new!
Please bring/wear clothing that is comfortable and allows for movement.
Assembly Hall is fully accessible. An elevator is onsite for access to the second floor Performance Hall, and accessible parking is available both at the front of Assembly Hall and in the Green P Parking lot (located on the south side of Assembly Hall). An accessible washroom is also available.
All participants will be required to sign a Liability Waiver and Multimedia Release Form onsite prior to the start of the workshop.
After this workshop on Saturday August 23, we’ll be hosting an Open Rehearsal at Assembly Hall featuring works-in-progress by Atri Nundy and KINAJ (Kin Nguyen and AJ Velasco). Stick around to witness these professional artists in action and then participate in an Artist Talk/Q&A! It promises to be an unforgettable day of dance by the lake!
This event is made possible with funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage's Canada Arts Presentation Fund.
