Class Descriptions

Body and Mind Activationproviding a strong foundation of focus, presence, physical readiness and enthusiasm.

Contemporary Techniqueemphasizing mobility and stability: investigate alignment, muscle efficiency and movement textures through classical and contemporary dance forms.

Improvisation Strategiesoffering strategies to access imagination, take risks, break habits and stay present.

Collaboration and Creative Process exploring choreographic tools and structures. Students will extrapolate on their understanding of Improvisational Strategies to create, modulate and discuss movement.


Kristen Carcone (Co-Director) is a freelance artist based in Toronto. She is a graduate of New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with Highest Honours in 2011. Kristen has trained and performed all over the world, dancing in works by Barak Marshall, Robert Battle, Doris Humphrey, Martha Graham, Darshan Bhuller, Jason Parsons and Linda Garneau. She recently has performed and toured with Conteur Dance Company (Toronto), Frog in Hand (Mississauga), ISODOC Dance Group (New York) and Project Limb (New York). She has appeared in such festivals as Danses Buissonnieres (Montreal), The New Prague Dance Festival (Prague), The Brooklyn Dance Festival (Brooklyn) and Spark Dance Forum (Brooklyn). Kristen has been featured in Dance Studio Life Magazine, The Dance Current, Evidance Radio and Rogers TV Local Notes. Awards garnered include the Florida-Canada Linkage Scholarship, Outstanding Dance Graduate, and the Frank Augustyn Scholarship.

David Norsworthy (Co-Director), a Toronto-based dance artist and entrepreneur, graduated from The Juilliard School with a BFA in May 2013. Over the past few years, he has had the honor of dancing works of Ohad Naharin, Crystal Pite and William Forsythe. He has been privileged to perform and tour with Toronto Dance Theatre (Toronto, Canada), ZviDance (NY, USA), Brian Brooks (NY, USA), Dancenorth (Melbourne, Australia), Skånes Dansteater (Malmö, Sweden) and Magma Dans (Stockholm, Sweden). He has recently presented his choreographic work at FRESH BLOOD (Toronto), Dumbo Dance Festival (New York) and Wave Rising Series (New York) as well as the Juilliard-in-Aiken Festival (South Carolina) and ArtPowersArusha (Tanzania). Recent choreographic projects include a new work for Lamondance (Vancouver), a creative process workshop with New Dialect (Nashville) and a site-specific work at the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa).  He has been featured in Dance Studio Life Magazine, Dance Canada Quarterly, The Dance Current and USA Today College. He is the recipient of a 2016 Ontario Arts Council International Residency Grant and the Living Arts Centre’s 2016 Ron Lenyk Arts Award.
